Toronto approves plans to build more rental homes

Toronto's city council has approved measures to boost rental housing, including a program to create 65,000 rent-controlled homes by 2030. The plan includes $351 million for 18 affordable rental projects, a fund to support non-profits, co-ops, and Indigenous housing providers, and updates to acquire private market rental housing. A strategy to protect tenants from renovictions was also approved.
